Katye's Birthday

Earlier this year, my friend Rita and I went to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington.  It's a fabulous event.  They always display samples from each class that is offered.  So you walk away with so many ideas and inspiration.  One of the displays was something similar to these.  It was Christmas themed.  When I saw it I turned to Rita and said I think that we can make this.  And so I have.  I'm sure that the class gave you a template and many other ideas as to make this an easier project.  I just worked with it until I got the spacing to my liking. I think that the one we saw used smaller squares.  Unfortunately I was working from the images in my head because they don't let you take photos!  So this was my version of it.  And of course instead of just doing Christmas I had to do it all with the idea that this could hang all year and be interchangeable.  The background is 5 inches wide and I used 2 inch squares.  I used too many products to name them all. This is a perfect project for a paper hound like me!!!

As always.....Thanks for looking!!

These were two Halloween cards that I whipped out.  Really I was just trying out my new Spellbinders Fancy Tags.  LOL!
This is a birthday card that I made for my mom's birthday.  I'm really loving this paper....it's Graphic45.  The colors are so vibrant.  It's from the Fashionista line.

Cutie Hootie version 2

I loved the Cutie Hootie card so much that I tweaked it an made a birthday version for my sis-in-law.  I love this set of stamps.  Again it's from The Stamps of Life.

Thanks for looking!

Cutie Hootie!

Love this card!  I made this for a co-worker.  The stamps are Stamps for Life.  And the papers are from the DCVW Black Currant stack.  You may not be able to tell but the background is foiled.  I like the idea of juxtaposing this super fancy paper with the cutesy girlie owl.

CIS Challenge #33 Things with wings

I was in the Stamp Asylum (Plano TX, NE corner of Park and Coit) yesterday and they had one of these little purses made from a manilla tag.  I thought it was such a cute idea that I had to come home and make one.  I had been musing about the things with wings challenge.  So when I started making this I decided to add the acetate butterfly.  The photos don't do the butterfly justice.  It's iridescent and really quite beautiful.

The tag is just a manilla tag.  Then I used Distressed Ink Chipped sapphire to ink it.  Then I used the Autumn Leave stamp #3526, 5 petal flower and stamped in Momento Danube Blue. I used some brown ribbon for the handle. The "button" is a Fancy Pants Happy Together fabric covered brad. And the butterfly is K&Company, from the Tim Coffey Cottage Garden Cool.

As always.....Thanks for Lookin'!

Dave's Bday card

Inside of card

Just made this for one of my friends, Dave Cyrus.  The background on the front of the card is K&Company.  Every time that I see this paper it reminds me of vintage wallpaper.  The  ephemera is also K&Company from the "Cut N Paste Ephemera".  The cherry print paper is from Jenni Bowlin Studios.  And guess what?  I didn't stamp at all on this one.  How did that happen?  Of course, I did use Distress Ink Wild Honey to distress the edges of the front of the card and edges of the cardstock on the inside.  I like the way that this turned out.  I usually make such girlie cards, lots of flowers, butterflies and swirls. So I had to really think about making something masculine.

Hubby and I are making Hungarian dinner for Dave tonight.  Go to kencraig.wordpress.com to see the photos of our dinner later tonight.  We are making Chicken Paprikash with Egg Noodles, Cucumber Salad and Apple Coffeecake.

Again, Thanks for lookin'!

This card is for 2 challenges:
Clearly Inspired Challenge #32
Mojo 199
The design sketch is from Mojo Monday and the color scheme is for the Clearly Inspired.

The color scheme is lime, turquoise, ginger and mud.

The butterfly stamp is from Martha Stewart.  I first stamped it with Stampabilities light green, but then I decided it was way too light, so I stamped over it with Distressed Ink peeled paint.....But then I decided that was too dark, so I stamped over it several times with the light green again.  Sometimes you have to just keep playing with something to get it right.  LOL!
The sentiment is a Just Rite stamp in Momento bahama blue.

Christmas in July

My goal was to make a 2 Christmas cards each month of this year.  Well, that train got derailed by the remodeling of the office.  But I'm back on track with July and made these two this week.  I like to take an idea or sketch and play with it....do it a couple of ways.  I had seen this flower design made by taking a square and rounding 2 corners of each square.  I had not really thought about making a Christmas card with that idea but I like the way that these turned out.

Glory Be!! I'm back!

Oh my gosh! After what seemed like forever, we finally got the office finished and put back together and I can go back to making cards.  My hubby says I can't wipe the giddy look off my face.  I will confess that I almost wept when I finished my first card.  Silly...... it may seem to some but it made my soul happy.  Today's posts are a set of eight cards that is a kit from Basic Grey called Curio.  I got the kit at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington TX in June.  I bought so much stuff there that it's kinda embarrassing.  This set has wonderful vintage papers and embellies.  I had never purchased a set like this before but I certainly will again.  These cards turned out really nice and I was able to snap them together in a matter of hours.  I'm thinking that I might give them as a set as a gift.

Thanks for taking a look!

On hiatus for a while.  Our A/C leaked into the office and we had to move everything out while repairs are being done.  So all of my supplies are in storage.  On the plus side I get a brand new work area sure to inspire my imagination!!!

CIC25 CAS Challenge

Clean and Simple???? That is a challenge for me!  Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a clean and simple girl.  For heaven's sake.....my eyeglass frames have sparkles on them!  I really wanted to add ribbon and bling or something.  I'm a paper hound.  I love layering.  Okay, enough whining.
I did it.  Clean and Simple.  The iris stamp is from Heartfelt Creations (www.heartfeltcreations.us) GRS-63C.  I used both my Pigma markers and Smooch ink for the colors.  The sentiment is TPC Studio, Playful Expressions.

Thanks for stopping by and looking!

Buddy's Birthday Card 2011

Just created this card for my brother's birthday.  I have always loved this photo of him on the rocking horse in his western wear.  This photo is from 1961 or1962. The vintage cowboy paper is K and Company and the 3D embellishments are Jolee's.
