Dave's Bday card

Inside of card

Just made this for one of my friends, Dave Cyrus.  The background on the front of the card is K&Company.  Every time that I see this paper it reminds me of vintage wallpaper.  The  ephemera is also K&Company from the "Cut N Paste Ephemera".  The cherry print paper is from Jenni Bowlin Studios.  And guess what?  I didn't stamp at all on this one.  How did that happen?  Of course, I did use Distress Ink Wild Honey to distress the edges of the front of the card and edges of the cardstock on the inside.  I like the way that this turned out.  I usually make such girlie cards, lots of flowers, butterflies and swirls. So I had to really think about making something masculine.

Hubby and I are making Hungarian dinner for Dave tonight.  Go to kencraig.wordpress.com to see the photos of our dinner later tonight.  We are making Chicken Paprikash with Egg Noodles, Cucumber Salad and Apple Coffeecake.

Again, Thanks for lookin'!

This card is for 2 challenges:
Clearly Inspired Challenge #32
Mojo 199
The design sketch is from Mojo Monday and the color scheme is for the Clearly Inspired.

The color scheme is lime, turquoise, ginger and mud.

The butterfly stamp is from Martha Stewart.  I first stamped it with Stampabilities light green, but then I decided it was way too light, so I stamped over it with Distressed Ink peeled paint.....But then I decided that was too dark, so I stamped over it several times with the light green again.  Sometimes you have to just keep playing with something to get it right.  LOL!
The sentiment is a Just Rite stamp in Momento bahama blue.

Christmas in July

My goal was to make a 2 Christmas cards each month of this year.  Well, that train got derailed by the remodeling of the office.  But I'm back on track with July and made these two this week.  I like to take an idea or sketch and play with it....do it a couple of ways.  I had seen this flower design made by taking a square and rounding 2 corners of each square.  I had not really thought about making a Christmas card with that idea but I like the way that these turned out.

Glory Be!! I'm back!

Oh my gosh! After what seemed like forever, we finally got the office finished and put back together and I can go back to making cards.  My hubby says I can't wipe the giddy look off my face.  I will confess that I almost wept when I finished my first card.  Silly...... it may seem to some but it made my soul happy.  Today's posts are a set of eight cards that is a kit from Basic Grey called Curio.  I got the kit at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington TX in June.  I bought so much stuff there that it's kinda embarrassing.  This set has wonderful vintage papers and embellies.  I had never purchased a set like this before but I certainly will again.  These cards turned out really nice and I was able to snap them together in a matter of hours.  I'm thinking that I might give them as a set as a gift.
