Katye's Birthday
Earlier this year, my friend Rita and I went to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington. It's a fabulous event. They always display samples from each class that is offered. So you walk away with so many ideas and inspiration. One of the displays was something similar to these. It was Christmas themed. When I saw it I turned to Rita and said I think that we can make this. And so I have. I'm sure that the class gave you a template and many other ideas as to make this an easier project. I just worked with it until I got the spacing to my liking. I think that the one we saw used smaller squares. Unfortunately I was working from the images in my head because they don't let you take photos! So this was my version of it. And of course instead of just doing Christmas I had to do it all with the idea that this could hang all year and be interchangeable. The background is 5 inches wide and I used 2 inch squares. I used too many products to name them all. This is a perfect project for a paper hound like me!!!
As always.....Thanks for looking!!

Cutie Hootie!
Love this card! I made this for a co-worker. The stamps are Stamps for Life. And the papers are from the DCVW Black Currant stack. You may not be able to tell but the background is foiled. I like the idea of juxtaposing this super fancy paper with the cutesy girlie owl.

CIS Challenge #33 Things with wings
I was in the Stamp Asylum (Plano TX, NE corner of Park and Coit) yesterday and they had one of these little purses made from a manilla tag. I thought it was such a cute idea that I had to come home and make one. I had been musing about the things with wings challenge. So when I started making this I decided to add the acetate butterfly. The photos don't do the butterfly justice. It's iridescent and really quite beautiful.
The tag is just a manilla tag. Then I used Distressed Ink Chipped sapphire to ink it. Then I used the Autumn Leave stamp #3526, 5 petal flower and stamped in Momento Danube Blue. I used some brown ribbon for the handle. The "button" is a Fancy Pants Happy Together fabric covered brad. And the butterfly is K&Company, from the Tim Coffey Cottage Garden Cool.

Dave's Bday card
Inside of card
Just made this for one of my friends, Dave Cyrus. The background on the front of the card is K&Company. Every time that I see this paper it reminds me of vintage wallpaper. The ephemera is also K&Company from the "Cut N Paste Ephemera". The cherry print paper is from Jenni Bowlin Studios. And guess what? I didn't stamp at all on this one. How did that happen? Of course, I did use Distress Ink Wild Honey to distress the edges of the front of the card and edges of the cardstock on the inside. I like the way that this turned out. I usually make such girlie cards, lots of flowers, butterflies and swirls. So I had to really think about making something masculine.
Hubby and I are making Hungarian dinner for Dave tonight. Go to kencraig.wordpress.com to see the photos of our dinner later tonight. We are making Chicken Paprikash with Egg Noodles, Cucumber Salad and Apple Coffeecake.
Again, Thanks for lookin'!
